Hines Student Urban Design Competition: Harvard University's Winning and Finalist Proposals

Urban Land Institute Hines Student Competition

A team representing Harvard University took top honors and $50,000 prize in the 2016 Hines Student Urban Design Competition.  The winning masterplan proposal aim to transform a Midtown Atlanta site into a thriving, walkable, transit-oriented neighborhood.  The team is advised by Alex Krieger, Professor of Urban Design at the Graduate School of Design.  The Harvard teams have historically placed well in the annual national competition and have been selected many times as the top four finalist teams.  2016 marked the first time Harvard as the winner of the Hines competition.

"The ULI Hines Student Competition offers graduate students the opportunity to form their own multidisciplinary teams and engage in a challenging exercise in responsible land use.  Student teams comprising at least 3 disciplines will have two weeks to devise a comprehensive design and development program for a real, large-scale site full of challenges and opportunities.  Submissions will consist of boards that include drawings, site plans, tables, and market-feasible financial data."
